How do I create a profile?
Register using “Facebook Connect” or login through JuntoBox Films. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you can sign up here (You do not need one to register on this site).
Once registered, add your credits and populate your profile (this can range from major work on a blockbuster picture or that student film you helped out on). Take the time to input your reel, ideas, clips and other social links to let people know you’re good!
Share your profile and connect to others in the JuntoBox network. The more you interact with other users the better--this will help you gather community support when your projects are up.
What is a project?
A project is your idea for a feature length film. It’s the bread and butter of JuntoBox Films. These are the projects that will ultimately be funded into films. It is your original idea or based on material you have the movie rights for. Projects are made up of assets, which include: logline, synopsis, treatment, script, images, short film, video pitch, trailer, and most importantly, followers.
How do I create a project?
Once you have created a profile, you can start a project page. This is where you tell your story. Simply start with a logline or synopsis.
Who started the company?
An independent filmmaker, Philippe Caland, founded the company. He studied the industry for a decade and created a process and ultimately a patent that of which JuntoBox Films started from.
What is the JBFolio?
The JBFolio is a great way to find and network with other filmmakers to collaborate on your projects. You can search by role, location, and genre’s that a creator specializes in. Find your cast and crew for your next short or your feature. Use this tool to connect with actors and filmmakers to collaborate on projects. Think of it as our filmmaking genome project.
What are the badges in my profile?
JuntoBox is also a game where you are awarded badges for participating and succeeding.
Badges are awards for your hard work to show off.
Why do I have badges?
The badges will appear when you complete tasks, and engage with others. You need your “stinking badges” to show how far along you are with your profile and your project. Badges are to show your community and us everything you have done to build your reputation.

What elements make up a project?
Logline
The one-liner of your story idea: Make it dense and engaging—something that will open people’s eyes in 10 seconds.
Synopsis
We want to know your characters and the central plot. But you don’t need to reveal the twist ending. Be crafty with it. You can dribble out details, creating your own campaign as you work through the levels. Or put it all up at once. It is up to you.
Media (Video Pitch or Short Clip, Images/Storyboards)
Pitch your project in your actual voice: Do this anywhere—at the bus stop or on the set of your $100m feature. Think outside the box and convey your passion. Film or animate a trailer, show the community the tone and feel of the film.
Set the mood for your project. What inspires you? Everyone loves to see and feel your journey. So tell the story visually through images or video. Be creative with your banner.
Treatment
A 10-15 page detailed synopsis of your film. Describe each scene and character and how each event advances your story. Give short bios of your major characters. This can also be a partial script
Script
The script: this is the completed story and the blueprint for your film. What are the movements of each character and the lines they say? As for length, a page usually translates to a minute. Upload it, even if it’s not perfect… part of the quest is to get feedback, develop it and show your supporters you are serious about getting your vision made.
Can people add to my project?
Commenting is open on all projects. However, the control of your script and your story stay with you. You are free to integrate suggestions from the community, but only you can edit and add to your project and its assets.
So how do I work my way through the JuntoBox process?
There are five levels to the social development process. As you progress through the levels, you will continue to connect with other filmmakers and gather followers. Invite that network to view, vote, rate and comment on your project. With enough ratings and followers… to unlock the next level.
How do I get my project to be highly rated?
Cultivate and use your network to build support for your project. Post it on Facebook. Tweet about it. E-mail and call your friends. Each person that visits your project page can give it a rating, from 1 to 5 stars. And he or she can choose to become a follower. By gathering enough followers and favorable ratings, you unlock your levels.
What is a follower?
A follower is a supporter of a project. Anyone who visits your project page can choose to become a follower with the click of a button. He or she will be updated with the project’s status as it passes through levels. Update followers at anytime if you make changes to your project. By gathering enough followers, you proceed to the next development level. Collecting a substantial following (community support) is essential if you want to progress though the JuntoBox development process and get your film made.
What are the development levels and what do I need to reach them?
Here is what you need to advance to each level:
Level 1: A logline and a synopsis
Level 2: Media and +10 followers
Level 3: A treatment, 20 followers, 80 project ratings (3 star average)
Level 4: A script (public or private), 40 followers, 80 project ratings (4 star average)
Level 5: JuntoBox Pick
What happens at Level 5?
You have made it to the top and we want to look closely at your project! You as the creator will be contacted, and we will send you our standard JuntoBox Films option agreement in order to commence the active development phase of your project.
How are projects evaluated?
JuntoBox Films’ board members make the final decision on what scripts to produce. The creative board will be announced to the public in 2012.
Can I keep my script private?
You can set your script to be private (This means it is only available to the JuntoBox Films’ internal development team.) or shared publicly to all registered users. Just remember, if no-one in the JuntoBox community can see your project, that also means it may not get the ratings needed to move to the top.
What is the crew-up feature?
Apply to be in the cast or the crew for any project on the platform. Apply for specific roles and jobs for the film. The creator of the project can decide whom they want in their project if they make the film themselves or with JuntoBox Films. Recruit your network to join your project especially if you have someone specific in mind for a role.
What is a JuntoBox Pick?
JuntoBox looks at all the projects at level 4 and choses a number of projects to be optioned based on what projects we think we can make.
What is the JuntoBox Films option agreement?
What happens if my film makes it through the development period without a greenlight?
What is the JuntoBox Films option agreement?
This is the final step the project takes before being Greenlit. This brief period of time serves:
• You commit JuntoBox Films exclusivity to assess your project for a window of 4 months.
• This short period gives us time to get to know each other and the project potential.
• We will edit the story and test the viability of the project
• Most importantly, your script doesn’t sit on a shelf. You get a quick answer.
What happens if my film makes it through the development period without a greenlight?
If we think your project has promise, but it needs more time for development: We will contact you to extend our relationship for 12 months, and pay a fee to you of $1,000 that JuntoBox will pay for.
If we do not think we can make your film: The rights revert back to you and you own all the revisions and with no turnaround fees.

JuntoBox Films works with you as a collaborative team to produce the film. JuntoBox Films is an end-to-end studio providing administration, financing, production and operational services, legal, marketing and distribution. Ultimately we want to be collaborating to help develop careers.
Who chooses the production team?
You do through the cast and crew selection on the project page. It’s an opportunity to show you have the right team to make your film. However, JuntoBox Films will approve the selections and people presented and fill in any gaps all in consultation with the creator.

What happens once the film is completed?
Since each film produced has a unique audience and different opportunities, the distribution plan varies on a film-by-film basis. We always aim to distribute the film globally in a variety of formats, including theatrical, DVD, video-on-demand, television, online streaming, etc.
Do I get paid?
Yes, once a project is greenlit, you as a creator will be compensated relative to the size of the film budget because JuntoBox Films is buying your script. And if you provide a service to the film (by directing, casting etc.), you will receive a salary.
Does the creator get a share of the net profit?
In addition to upfront compensation, the creator will get a share of the profits of all revenue streams from the film.
How do you determine the budget of the film?
JuntoBox will decide and allocate the budget based on what is appropriate for the specific project.
Who funds the films?
JuntoBox is committed to financing the production of films that go though the JuntoBox methodology.
What happens to the creator approved cast/crew of a greenlit project?
You are part of the creator’s network and will be the first person considered for the job/role. This is why it is important to populate your profile demonstrating your experience, talent, passion, drive, and network. Keep in mind JuntoBox Films has final approval on all roles.
Does JuntoBox Films retain any rights of exclusivity over my project?
Does JuntoBox Films retain any rights of exclusivity over my project?
We do NOT own your project until we purchase it from you. However, during the Social Development Phase (Levels 1-4), JuntoBox Films retains first right of refusal – meaning that if another company is interested in producing it, we reserve the right to review it first. In the Development phase, we have a 4 month option once we execute the document.
What if my project has co-creators?
For now, only one "creator" can "own" and administer a project on the site. Features are being added along the way to attach and list other JuntoBox Films members as co-creators and administrators to a single project. If your project makes it to Level 5, our development agreement and legal framework can properly protect and compensate multiple creators.
How is my idea protected?
The best way to protect your idea is to get it out there with your name on it. That way, you have definitive proof the idea is yours. In addition, every script must be uploaded on the site must first register at the WGA or the copyright office.
Register your script at the WGA.
